Wai-Yung Lee Honored with the 2025 AAMFT Visionary Impact Award
Our Founding Clinical Director, Dr. Wai-Yung Lee has been selected as a recipient of the prestigious 2025 Visionary Impact Award by the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT).
This special recognition honors three globally influential female pioneers whose groundbreaking contributions have profoundly shaped the field of systemic family therapy. Dr. Lee shares this distinction with esteemed colleagues Dr. Celia Falicov and Dr. Judith Landau, highlighting a landmark celebration of women's leadership in the profession.
Dr. Lee's visionary work has been instrumental in advancing culturally sensitive approaches to family therapy, particularly within Asian and cross-cultural contexts. Her innovative research and clinical practice—drawing from her roles as Founding President of the Asian Academy of Family Therapy, Clinical Director of the Aitia Family Institute in Shanghai, and long-time collaborator with Salvador Minuchin—have inspired generations of therapists worldwide.
This award marks a significant milestone for greater Asian representation and diversity in the global family therapy community, underscoring the enduring impact of inclusive, systemic perspectives on mental health and relational healing.
Congratulations to Dr. Lee and her fellow honorees on this well-deserved recognition!
